You never know how strong you are...

15 November, 2010

Until you have no other choice.  That's pretty much been my motto for about, erm...5 years give or take a month.  That's right, Nick and I are coming up on the anniversary of our first date, followed closely by our 2nd wedding anniversary.  I had heard this saying in the past, but had never really paid much attention to it.

Until I was "that girl".  You know, the girlfriend.  The one that the military doesn't know existed.  I spent 3 years and i 4 and a half month tour as "that girl"  My motto never rang truer.  I had no idea the things that could go wrong when one's SO is deployed, or TDY, or Geo Bach.  But the list is EXHAUSTING.

So this brings us to present day.  And I am once again doing something that I never thought that I would have to (especially with Nick being Air National Guard.)  I've found myself in a new home, OUR home, with as much stuff as Nick and I could move in a 2 day period before he had to pick up and ship off again for 2.5 weeks to finish up a class he's been taking since August.  I can kinda look back at it now with a, oh well, type attitude, but let me tell you when he left, and I had no idea how to get to the grocery store, let alone the nearest commissary or exchange..I was scared.  My mom's been here with me while Nick's down south for school, which has been the biggest BLESSING.  We have to rambunctious cats that have kept us on our toes.  And slowly we're learning our way around our new town, and what other towns we need to go to for certain things.

Our youngest cat has some sort of separation anxiety or something going on where he gets up a 0300 or 0400 and just walks around the house crying...we can't figure out why he does it, but we're hoping when Nick get's back he'll stop.

I think I can officially say that this post went no where near where I had planned, but whatever, it's our blog and I'll ramble if I want to, lol.

I guess my point is, the next time a "civilian" wife, girlfriend, so, whatever comes up to you and says, they don't think they could ever do what we do...just smile, and reply..."You never know how strong you are until you no other choice"

2 Weeks and a World Away

08 November, 2010

Welp, it's been 2 weeks give or take...and we now live in a totally different world it seems like.  In those 2 weeks we've packed, gone through the accident with Nick's Dad (Nick told me the other day I can use his real name in my blog {happy dance!!}) we bought our house, spent one night in it together, before I left for New York the next morning to get my mom.  Mom and I got back on Saturday, Nick left at 0dark30 Sunday morning for a 2.5 weeks stint in Tenn for the end of his NCO Academy.

The start of this was rocky, I'm not gonna lie.  I have no energy, and I was just overwhelmed.  And then yesterday, I had the best photo shoot I've ever had, for 2 amazing people, and it was just perfect.

That's all it took for me.  So Thanks Ricky and Anna, you got me outta my slump, and it currently smells like fresh made fajitas throughout the house.  I have a huge smile on my face, and I can't wait to get what I can unpacked and put away so that I can make it a great night!

So, yeah...even though it snowed last night, and I miss Nick more then I can tell you...I'm going to bed doing my part of keepin' 'em Flyin' ;-)
